Bromine Toxicity

This article is written to bring together two topics.  One being that of Iodine and the other Bromine, and how they are so closely related to our well being and health.

Have you ever wondered how we are affected by toxic substances in a cellular level?  It is such a massive topic and one that in today’s modern world of ever increasing toxins be it in our food, water, air, rain, and the numerous debilitating silent ones like that of Bromine, found in children’s pyjamas, stuffed animals, sodas and energy drinks in the form of BVO Bromated Vegetable oil, prescription drugs – in the form of Ipratropium bromide and the antidepressant Celexa – Citalopram Hydrobromide, car interiors, electronics, carpets, mattresses, furniture, household cleaners, toilet paper, and even potassium bromate added to bread,  that adorns the shelves of supermarkets, and unfortunately the consumer is completely unaware that what they are eating has this toxin in it!  But ladies…and men it also is added to cosmetics and toiletries – Centramonium bromide. Check out www.CosmeticAnalysis.com andwww.GoodGuide.com , for more info on this.

It is used in bread as a dough conditioner, but there is one bakery that bakes commercial bread without it and their quality is just the same as breads with it in.
The UK and Canada banned the use of bromate in bread way back in 1990, but Australian Food Regulatory Body has failed to do this and the US still states that bromate is listed as a safe additive.
The sheer amount of bromine-related chemicals that, as you can see, surround us in every which way, we now have elevated levels which have been implicated in every thyroid disease, from simple hypothyroidism to auto-immune diseases to thyroid cancer.  Scientific research on rats with even the smallest amount of bromine showed consistent effects on the thyroid hormone axis. This happens because Bromine interferes with the absorption of Iodine, and Iodine in itself is so depleted or even non-existent in the western culture as we do not take in a pure form of Iodine daily such as sea vegetables, and probably our mothers were so Iodine deficient anyway.
Here is an story showing the toxicity of bromide.
When Gulf War soldiers experienced bromide toxicity from the experimental use of Pyridostigmine Bromide (supposedly a nerve gas protectant) the army had to use a salt solution (salt flushing) as a detox agent.  This form of salt loading has been used for over a hundred years as the fastest way to flush bromide out of the system, but it is used in conjunction with taking Iodine supplementation by a qualified therapist.
Our breasts use up Iodine in large amounts especially when we are breast feeding, and Iodine has been used for hundreds of years to help reduce the symptoms of prostate cancer.  But my question is, do we surround ourselves with this toxic poison in every which way and then wait for cancer to rear its ugly head or do we make sure our governments stop this hideous toxin from being used?  Failing that, just simply using organic and organic natural ingredients and materials that do not contain bromide will reduce our toxic load by 80%.
